I was sitting on the couch with one of my dogs next to me. My husband was on the other couch watching football. The dog looks over at him and stares (and of course we must have some sort of conversation with them when they do that.) He sees her and says, “Yes, I know what time it is and I will get up and feed you in a minute.”
Then he switches roles and talks for her (because that’s what normal people do right? lol) and says, “Why don’t you follow mommy’s example and ‘Do it now?!’” She gives a little head tilt while he’s talking for her and looks at him and blinks like, “Yea, that’s what I said.” Haha. It’s funny that my husband said that for her and she readily agreed and supports my MKE mindset 😉
My husband has had conversations with me before also where he’s said, “I’d better ‘Do it now’ before I forget”. These moments show me I’m having a positive impact on my family (and even my dogs lol) by doing my MKE exercises every day.
I’ve experienced how my habits influence others at work as well. I always greet a particular student the same way when she walks in each morning. Her attendance isn’t the best, so I try and make a big deal of it when she comes to school, so she knows how excited and proud her we are that she showed up and my greeting always makes her smile.
One day I didn’t greet her because I was busy doing something else and one of the other students noticed and said, “You didn’t say… (my normal greeting).” Obviously, I didn’t forgo my greeting on purpose, but I didn’t realize how much other people would notice by me not saying it.
The student that I greet didn’t seem upset about it at all, but other people noticed. I can see how my actions affect that those around me, even if unintentional. It’s important for me to remember and give myself credit for leading by example and being a positive force in my world.
Love your share and you ARE a positive force. Keep shining your beautiful light.
Brittany this is so uplifting, cute and funny! I love this blog and so happy for you and the impact you are making to those around you. Actions truly do speak louder than words!
If I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. You, Brittany, and your husband make a great team! 🙂
I like that insight about the Color Code and these different reactions! Thank you!
i love your blog! yes, we have an affect on so many people! the Do IT Now is the most motivating 3 words. i love how your hubby is learning the teachings of the course through you – same as mine.
Oh my gosh, I love this blog!! Great insights and I am gonna guess the student you greet is red and doesn’t take it personally when you forget and the blues noticed and made sure they took care of the red LOL
Brittany, you are definitely an example to follow. Thanks for sharing your insights this week.
