It was a great week to start writing out three gratitude cards daily and putting them in our card stacks.
Right in the middle of the holidays. It starts easily with all the extra time off work, the presents, and the extra happiness with most people in the Christmas spirit. This happy and caring Christmas spirit affects both believers of Christmas and those who don’t.
It would be wonderful to have that caring and happiness all year long. Maybe someday, a week or so is better than none. Maybe sometime in the future. Maybe MKE members will bring it about.
It was extremely easy to fill our gratitude cards for Christmas day this year. It was the first year since 2007 that my brother Jim and I were able to celebrate Christmas with our mom.
Jim has lived in Hawaii for over thirty years, and I have been since 2008. Our mom moved to Hawaii in October and lives right above us. It took a while to get her to decide to move, but I am so grateful she finally did.
January first is her birthday. We will have lunch on the beach with her for her birthday. This week made it easy to find gratitude for our cards. The reality is that they are all around us.
We just must stop for a moment and pay attention. It becomes a habit, and we become happier, realizing how amazing our lives are even if they are not yet where we want to be.
I also started listening to The Strangest Secret. I do like it and have been listening to it every day. It does take some time to listen to, but I think it is worth the time.
I have filled out my card and will be listening for thirty days and maybe longer. It is one more thing that keeps me focused on what I desire. You can never have too many tools.
“You can never have too many tools.” Gratitude is one of so many tools that we learn about in the MKE process. As always, I’m grateful for your honesty and observations in your blogs! Thanks John.
Yes, John, it would be great to have that all year! Hope you had a great celebration with your mom and brother!
I love that your Mom is an important part of your life, now living near you. And I love Gratitude, it is my favourite tool:)
Gratitude is a blessing for everyone.
