What grows is what we put our attention on.

A reflection on my experience for this week.

I remember some time ago, while doing research, how inspired and impressed I was with Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion | TED. ( and honestly, so do we)

In essence, Rita brings to light what we are to remember as we read part 18 of The Master Key System. In line 14 we read:

“Thought is the invisible link by which the individual comes into communication with the Universal, the finite with the Infinite, the seen with the Unseen. Thought is the magic by which the human is transformed into a being who thinks and knows and feels and acts.”

Charles Haanel, The Master Key System, 18:14

If you have not heard of Rita, I encourage you to go see her Ted talk. In essence she explains that she was teaching in a class where the expectations of the students were not high at all. In order to turn things around she proved that what we believe and focus on is vital to the success and growth of whatever we are attending to. In this case she is speaking about the grades of her students.

So, for example, if the test had 10 questions and the student got 8 wrong, she marked her papers +2. I will leave you to listen to the talk she gave, but essentially, her belief in the students and focusing on what they were doing right, helped her students to do the same and they did very well.

My reflection is a personal application. I too have been becoming more aware of the ceilings I have placed on myself. I am noticing that I want to break those ceilings. In the past, I didn’t even know I was doing this to myself, but as I progress through the program and do the exercises, I am faced with opportunities to do more, and I find myself noticing that I no longer want to be within the limits I have put on myself.

I have prepared the path and now I am faced with a commitment I will choose and it feels scary. The old words want to filter back in, but, no, no, my future self is not satisfied with that conversation any more.

So, I ask myself what would my future self, the me of today, do in this moment.

This is so, so helpful and I persevere and am so grateful for this awareness and the realization that I now can choose to live into possibility, rather than lack.

I choose to put my attention on what I want and release the thoughts that no longer serve. Yay!

Thank you for reading along xoxo
