Recently I experienced something on both an intellectual and an emotional level which I was able to move from a negative to a positive experience. It started out as my own personal pity party and ended up a wonderful learning experience.
Over a few days, I found myself dwelling on things that were not meeting my expectations and it was affecting my mood and my relationships. I felt withdrawn, sad and frustrated. I understood I was creating this reality, yet I felt paralyzed by my emotions. I used some of the laws of the mind and tools I’ve been learning to eventually get out of the funk.
I focused on things I was grateful for; I visualized my “whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy, self.” I acknowledged my feelings and reminded myself that “this too will pass”. While these tools helped me, I was still feeling uneasy.
This week, we are learning about the power that we all have to affect our reality through our thoughts. These common phrases/quotes; “If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right”, “Change your thoughts change your life”, “We become what we think about”, are all true. Most people will agree that they are true, but also, most people don’t believe they REALLY have the power to create their lives with their thoughts.
Today at lunch with my best friend, we talked about our family and past, (we rarely discuss these things, usually we talk about our next adventure or art project.) I could feel us feeding off each other’s pain and energy and it was not our usual upbeat gathering. While it felt good to be able to share and be there for each other, it was also important to realize that we were not in our usual high frequency.
When our thoughts are uplifted, we are vibrating on a level that is healing physically, mentally and spiritually. When we experience negative emotions, our vibrations are changed and if we stay here, we experience inharmony and disease. (Chapter 22 of The Master Key System by Charles Haanel)
This month I began a new scroll from The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandito and the first verse is, “Today I am the master of my emotions.” In the past, I lived my life allowing my emotions to dictate my actions, often succumbing to the negative parts of my life. Now, as an educated observer, I am able to realize it is happening and I can begin to control my thoughts and my actions which bring about the great feelings and high vibrations I desire. It is empowering to realize I’ve always had the power, I just wasn’t practiced in how to use it.
I am happy to say that I am feeling my amazing, powerful self and I am more grateful than ever for this phase in my life, learning at a pace much faster than I ever had in my 50+ decades!
Yes, in general, #MKE folks are a joy to be around, Ann. Although I imagine most would need to make a huge mental shift to see it that way! LOL 🙂 For those that have, their joy can be boundless…i.e., case in point, you!
Absolutely! I realized I often “do things” in order to show others how it can be done. MKE helped me realize this about myself too. SO much growth!
Thank you Loren, yes it seems the older people get the less they change. To me this is ironic because the older I get the less I care about what other’s think of me and change is easier than ever! It’s fun to surprise folks with my shenanegans.
Great observations, Ann! Way to take those principles, observe, and apply them!
Thank you for sharing and this really was impactful: “When our thoughts are uplifted, we are vibrating on a level that is healing physically, mentally and spiritually. When we experience negative emotions, our vibrations are changed and if we stay here, we experience in harmony and disease.”
When it comes to self-directed thinking, Ann, most 50+ people are exactly where they’ve been their entire lives — in fact, maybe even more so. You, on the other hand, have stepped out of the box, to become a torch-bearer, more than worthy for all who follow you! 🙂
Yahhhoooo Ann! I love how you described yourself as an “educated observer”. Congrats on applying the MKE principles and tools. You are leading by example. Thanks for sharing your authentic self with us!
