I’m fed up with winter. I’m fed up with all the rain. I’m fed up with the cold. I just want to go out in my garden and work with my plants. And so it goes…..
So, what am I going to do about all that? More to the point, who am I going to be about all that? Am I going to stew about it? Am I going to complain about it? Am I going to wish it were different?
Or, am I going to make another choice. I can’t do anything about the rain, which we sorely need here in California, by the way. But I can do something about how I feel about the situation.
Instead of choosing frustration, exasperation, or despair, I can choose peace. I can stop my mental chatter about how bad things are and just BE. This is the state of consciousness that one experiences with the silent retreats. Well, we don’t have to wait until we can organize things to go on a retreat. We can experience the peace of silence right now – at any moment – simply by choosing to be.
As they say, “Do it NOW!!”
Yes, MJ, I too am fed up with the rain, but when summer comes, I’m going to be so glad we were so blessed this winter. The snowpack is incredible. Love your post to “Do it Now.” Get’er done is my way of saying the same thing.
Do it now Mary! Thank you.
Powerful blog post, MJ! Yes, we can choose whatever we want. And to feel fed up with things is merely opinions. Great observation and reflections about choosing to just BE in the state of consciousness. Thank you for sharing this!
And how, Mary!:-)
